The room/bathroom were more than ample and general appearance of the hotel. The staff were very polite and helpful when required. Experienced dinner in the bar area which was fine but charged £14+ for a large and small glass of wine which I thought was expensive. Breakfast was good but female guests were allowed to attend dressed in pyjamas/dressing gowns and even hair rollers. This may be a trend these days but my wife and I felt uncomfortable, very much like experiencing an "elephant in the room". This was a "Secret escapes" deal, so value for money is exaggerated.
Overall, we were satisfied with our stay at the hotel. The room was spacious. The food was of a good quality. The spa facilities were excellent. It was slightly marred by there being no air con in the bedroom. And, it was almost ruined by having to wait an hour for a starter on our first night (which arrived with the main course). The young barman who had taken our order had failed to communicate it and then did nothing to resolve the situation, despite repeated requests to do so. He seemed only interested in serving certain customers and attending to those he wanted to (in the mean-time, we watched 4 other tables being served before us, despite ordering after us). The following day, he did likewise by asking another member of staff to serve us, despite serving everyone else himself. This made us feel very uncomfortable. Please send him on a Customer Services course (don't know his name but he had ginger hair). The Duty Manager that first evening was excellent and dealt with the situation professionally and amicably, resolving our complaint and providing a solution swiftly.

Absolutely loved our stay at the Cheshire Cat. Beautiful little hotel, we stayed in the annex. Clean, well furnished and decorated and has everything you need. The food was amazing and the staff there are very friendly and extremely helpful. Hopefully we get chance to stay again!
The room was lovely, set by a canal it's a picturesque location and a lovely get away. The only thing that let it down was while waiting to check in we were stood at the check in area of the bar and completely ignored by 3 members of staff that walked past us. Basic service 101 is to acknowledge your customers, even if that's just to say "someone will be with you shortly". Don't let that take away from the reasonable price and lovely rooms/location but the staff could do with some lessons on basic care.

A great venue for professional events. The food was lovely (although some delegates said some was undercooked) and the conference room well laid out. Tea and coffee were not provided until after the mid-speaker interval when it was all but too late, and a microphone would have been useful as the air conditioning was noisy at times, but otherwise it was great and a top contender for future events.
We arrived during storm Doris and staff were trying to find guests before a falling tree was about to crush guests cars. But during all this staff were professional and very welcoming and we're greeted by reception staff who again were welcoming and professional. We got into our room the fairfax and it was amazing clean tidy (yes there were a few defects to but so what). We had to wait to get into the spa due to the weather but when the wind calmed down we got a room call and went in all facilities were working and we enjoyed them. Dinner was amazing and the food was hot and tasty again fully enjoyed and the waiting staff were brilliant and very professional we left relaxed and happy a great night

Excellent Sunday roast lamb, almost as good as mine! Good value at £11.95. Very welcoming friendly staff apart from 1 bar person who although polite was rather stand offish. Our party of 8 was seated in conservatory which is rather noisy. Go early on Sunday.lunchtime as very busy later on & car park packed.
Good local pub/restaurant. Staff young and helpful, food well above average. Dog friendly which is always a bonus. Kids play area at the back and lots of outside seating. Recommend highly.

Definitely one of the better pubs in the area! Creative and traditional menu, something for everyone. Beautiful location and lovely building. After a meal we walk along the canal and chat to the boaters. I personally recommend the Stilton & mushroom starter and rhubarb gin with fevertree tonic. I wouldn't bother with the carrot cheesecake, the carrot cake bit is dry. However, I find the staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Different members of the bar and service staff have gone out of their way to make me happy. It's a great place for kids and dogs are welcome in the outside seating areas. I keep going back, haven't been able to fault anything yet! It's a popular and busy pub so can often take a bit of time to be served but that doesn't detract from the experience for me!
Decent food. Very prompt service. Smart decor, but a relaxed atmosphere. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Allowed us to arrange the tables in the small dog-friendly area to have our family lunch as we had a dog with us and the weather wasn't nice enough to sit outside.
