Innkeeper's Lodge Chester, Christleton

Whitchurch Road, Christleton, Chester CH3 6AE, UK – 0845 112 6022

Absolutely loved our stay at the Cheshire Cat. Beautiful little hotel, we stayed in the annex. Clean, well furnished and decorated and has everything you need. The food was amazing and the staff there are very friendly and extremely helpful. Hopefully we get chance to stay again!

The room was lovely, set by a canal it's a picturesque location and a lovely get away. The only thing that let it down was while waiting to check in we were stood at the check in area of the bar and completely ignored by 3 members of staff that walked past us. Basic service 101 is to acknowledge your customers, even if that's just to say "someone will be with you shortly". Don't let that take away from the reasonable price and lovely rooms/location but the staff could do with some lessons on basic care.

Premier Inn Chester Central South East

Caldy Valley Road, Great Boughton, Chester CH3 5PR, UK – 0871 527 8232

As always the rooms are really good. Slept well and comfortably, it is let down by the food experience at Brewers Fayre. The breakfast was generous and reasonable quality. I like the buffet style approach. The piped music however was really off putting. I like to talk to my family over breakfast and being hearing impaired at the moment which was impossible with the inane music played loudly over breakfast.

Good budget accommodation. Clean and tidy. Very helpful reception. Bar/restaurant right next door, food was reasonably priced, and quite strict on closing time. Location is just two mins from motorway, petrol station and sainsbury across the road.

Mercure Chester Abbots Well Hotel

Whitchurch Rd, Christleton, Chester CH3 5QL, UK – 0844 815 9001

After a pleasant welcome at check in we found our room which was well appointed, could have done with a couple of more milks on the tea/coffee tray, bed was very comfortable & bathroom well appointed. Enjoyed the use of the pool area. Evening meal was most enjoyable as was the breakfast, excellent selection & coffee. Any queries we had were dealt with immediately & the offer to leave our car in the car park while we visited Chester was very considerate. I would happily recommend a Mercure hotel & would stay again.

Our stay began before we'd left home with a courtesy call. We were assured of a ground floor room, close to reception. We arrived ahead of schedule, to find our room was not only ready for us, but had been upgraded! It was light and airy, very comfortable and well equipped. The hotel facilities were great and I enjoyed a swim and sauna before dinner. Dinner was lovely, our waiter most attentive. Equally, breakfast set us up for the drive home. All staff we met were helpful and friendly. I would happily recommend this hotel based on our experience. Thank you!

Ring O' Bells

Village Rd, Christleton, Chester CH3 7AS, UK – 01244 335422

Plenty of parking. Lovely children's outdoor play area and outdoor seating. Staff pleasant. Clean and friendly place. Food delicious. Would recommend a visit

Excellent Sunday roast lamb, almost as good as mine! Good value at £11.95. Very welcoming friendly staff apart from 1 bar person who although polite was rather stand offish. Our party of 8 was seated in conservatory which is rather noisy. Go early on Sunday.lunchtime as very busy later on & car park packed.

Rake & Pikel

The Rake & Pikel Inn, Chester Rd, Huntington, Chester CH3 6BS, UK – 01244 318254

The food here is seriously good, far better than the chains like Marston's or Hungry horse. Everything seems to be fresh and the menu caters for all tastes whatever you want from pie to burgers and pizzas, good place in the summer too as the beer garden is great and the kids can play on the climbing frames while you have a cold pint or vino, prices are reasonable for food and well worth it, drinks can be a bit pricey but not ridiculous. Fully recommend for family meals/Sunday lunch or just a pint in the beer garden in the summer. Good traditional pub.

Great food, great atmosphere specially when the musicians are in. Wonderful pub summer and winter. Reasonably well behaved kids very welcome, play area colouring books, reading books, ice cream and slushes. Dogs welcome too. Lovely, Lively landlady Donna.

The Cheshire Cat

Whitchurch Rd, Christleton, Chester CH3 6AE, UK – 01244 332200

My husband and I were sceptical of this vast ranging building (old stately home) that has flung it's doors open to the masses. Previous visits weren't very satisfying and we weren't impressed with the food and drink. As we'd had a long walk along the Canal and couldn't find another coffee outlet, we sought refuge in a quiet room. The service was friendly and we enjoyed coffee and apple pie. The rooms are decorated well. We would go back during the week or on Saturday but probably avoid 'family day' on Sundays.

Definitely one of the better pubs in the area! Creative and traditional menu, something for everyone. Beautiful location and lovely building. After a meal we walk along the canal and chat to the boaters. I personally recommend the Stilton & mushroom starter and rhubarb gin with fevertree tonic. I wouldn't bother with the carrot cheesecake, the carrot cake bit is dry. However, I find the staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Different members of the bar and service staff have gone out of their way to make me happy. It's a great place for kids and dogs are welcome in the outside seating areas. I keep going back, haven't been able to fault anything yet! It's a popular and busy pub so can often take a bit of time to be served but that doesn't detract from the experience for me!

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!
