Rowton Hall Hotel & Spa

Whitchurch Rd, Rowton, Chester CH3 6AD, UK – 01244 335262

We arrived during storm Doris and staff were trying to find guests before a falling tree was about to crush guests cars. But during all this staff were professional and very welcoming and we're greeted by reception staff who again were welcoming and professional. We got into our room the fairfax and it was amazing clean tidy (yes there were a few defects to but so what). We had to wait to get into the spa due to the weather but when the wind calmed down we got a room call and went in all facilities were working and we enjoyed them. Dinner was amazing and the food was hot and tasty again fully enjoyed and the waiting staff were brilliant and very professional we left relaxed and happy a great night

Stayed in one of the junior suites. Room was spacious and clean. Bathroom had a bath and a shower, and a TV in the room, all in working order. Large flat screen TV in main bedroom (which you can plug a dvd player Into if you are so inclined - HDMI ports). All the usual amenities in the room; tea, coffee, hot chocolate, still water. Towels and robes provided, toiletries etc. Safe and an iron in the wardrobe. Lots of plug sockets if you have devices to charge. The bed was large and comfortable. The room was a little hot but the room comes with a fan that does a good job. The spa area is clean and in working order, but the pool is a little small. Towels are provided by the hotel. Comprises of steam room, sauna, pool and attached jacuzzi. There are treatments available at extra cost. Staff are friendly and helpful. The best thing about our stay here was the food. Absolutely exquisite meal served at dinner time. Also, Rowton Hall is in a lovely location and is a short drive from Chester town centre. Well worth a visit.

Mercure Chester Abbots Well Hotel

Whitchurch Rd, Christleton, Chester CH3 5QL, UK – 0844 815 9001

On arrival reception was courteous and efficient. Because we were members of the Club Accor, their loyalty card system, and the hotel was quiet, we had an upgrade. The room was clean and fresh and well appointed. We had dinner and the staff were friendly and helpful. A wider choice of main courses would have suited me better but what I chose was good. Breakfast was served from 6 to 9:30 and had a wide range available. As a tour guide and lover of travel, for price and location, this hotel was value for money.

Staff always smiling and very helpful. Room had an average size. The bathroom could be better as it was impossible to take a shower without flooding the bathroom. Breakfast was called continental but I was missing a couple of things such as a choice of cold cuts as only ham was provided. My mind was blown when I was asking for a cork screw and the staff were unable to give me one as it was non-existent within the establishment (asked at the bar, restaurant where they checked the kitchen, spoke to the restaurant manager and reception) the swimming pool and sauna were alright and its size was bigger than the average.

Premier Inn Chester Central South East

Caldy Valley Rd, Great Boughton, Chester CH3 5PR, UK – 0871 527 8232

Good value and comfortable family stay in a good location Arizona for nearby major attractions. Staff friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was decent and a good variety on offer. Room a good size and clean. Recommend

Its a premier Inn, good comfy, clean and reliable. like always. The only downside is the locating of doors, and this is common with premier inns all over. there are multiple doors between the reception and the rooms, which are really quite awkward when you are trying to pull a suit case, a handbag and all your other luggage around the corridors. but obviously this doesn't effect the stay, it just makes it clumsy.

Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

Ring O' Bells

Village Rd, Christleton, Chester CH3 7AS, UK – 01244 335422

Nice friendly atmosphere greets you as do the attentive staff. No rushing, no panic. We had drinks in the open bar area and then moved to our table in the dining room. The service was pleasant and the food fantastic. Three courses for the three of us didn't break the bank either. We will be back. Well done

A really cosy and smart venue with friendly staff. Plenty of ales on offer but I'm yet to try the food. There are a couple of 2 for 1 deals throughout the week on pizzas and burgers.

The Cheshire Cat

Whitchurch Rd, Christleton, Chester CH3 6AE, UK – 01244 332200

Beautiful place and friendly staff. Perfect location right on canal. Food was lovely. Excellent room very clean. Will definitely be staying again. I know I've rated it a five star but just one criticism soft toilet paper please

Really lovely place. The meals are spot on and the staff very friendly. Our room was very spacious. You can have a lovely walk down the canal. Very peaceful 👍

Rake & Pikel

The Rake & Pikel Inn, Chester Rd, Huntington, Chester CH3 6BS, UK – 01244 318254

The food here is seriously good, far better than the chains like Marston's or Hungry horse. Everything seems to be fresh and the menu caters for all tastes whatever you want from pie to burgers and pizzas, good place in the summer too as the beer garden is great and the kids can play on the climbing frames while you have a cold pint or vino, prices are reasonable for food and well worth it, drinks can be a bit pricey but not ridiculous. Fully recommend for family meals/Sunday lunch or just a pint in the beer garden in the summer. Good traditional pub.

Food nice, staff welcoming and pet friendly

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

The Old Farmhouse B&B

Very clean place, beautiful setting, the food is great, the owners are very nice, accomodating people and they have the cutest most friendliest cat

Innkeeper's Lodge Chester, Christleton

Whitchurch Road, Christleton CH3 6AE, UK – 0845 112 6022

The room was lovely, set by a canal it's a picturesque location and a lovely get away. The only thing that let it down was while waiting to check in we were stood at the check in area of the bar and completely ignored by 3 members of staff that walked past us. Basic service 101 is to acknowledge your customers, even if that's just to say "someone will be with you shortly". Don't let that take away from the reasonable price and lovely rooms/location but the staff could do with some lessons on basic care.

Good food, some lovely staff, I like the big garden in the summer and the fact it's near the canal

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

The Crocky Trail

Cotton Abbotts, Waverton, Chester CH3 7PH, UK – 01244 336084

Absolutely fantastic day out. Well worth the visit. Its something completely different to what we normally do . What a brilliant day . Don't think I will be going on the flusher again anytime soon 😂😂😂 my poor heart 😄😄

Amazing place - I had such a fun day out with my other half - we're in our mid-twenties and went with no children and still had such a fun day. I think it's one of those places that is as fun as you choose to make it - if you join in and go on everything, it is such a good laugh. The trail itself is a nice walk too - definitely wanting to take the rest of the family back. We went on a day that turned rainy, but that didn't spoil it one bit. Watch out for a little surprise on the last bridge back around the trail though! ;-)

Campsites and Caravan Parks

Birch Bank Farm Caravan & Campsite

Birch Bank Farm, Stamford Lane, Cotton Edmunds, Christleton, Chester CH3 7QD, UK – 01244 335233

Quiet, pretty and friendly. It's a small site on a working cattle farm. The owners are lovely, very friendly and welcoming. Set in beautiful pasture lands next to the farmhouse, you're in the centre of farm life. The site is neat, tidy and clean. Shower, wash and toilet facilities are charmingly located in the farm outhouses; they are delightfully rustic, very clean and the showers are lovely and warm. A very pleasurable stay, many thanks.

Lovely site....relaxed... pleasant and jus what need when u have worked a full week in work x Cheap and spacious x
