Definitely one of the better pubs in the area! Creative and traditional menu, something for everyone. Beautiful location and lovely building. After a meal we walk along the canal and chat to the boaters. I personally recommend the Stilton & mushroom starter and rhubarb gin with fevertree tonic. I wouldn't bother with the carrot cheesecake, the carrot cake bit is dry. However, I find the staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Different members of the bar and service staff have gone out of their way to make me happy. It's a great place for kids and dogs are welcome in the outside seating areas. I keep going back, haven't been able to fault anything yet! It's a popular and busy pub so can often take a bit of time to be served but that doesn't detract from the experience for me!
Decent food. Very prompt service. Smart decor, but a relaxed atmosphere. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Allowed us to arrange the tables in the small dog-friendly area to have our family lunch as we had a dog with us and the weather wasn't nice enough to sit outside.

Excellent Sunday roast lamb, almost as good as mine! Good value at £11.95. Very welcoming friendly staff apart from 1 bar person who although polite was rather stand offish. Our party of 8 was seated in conservatory which is rather noisy. Go early on Sunday.lunchtime as very busy later on & car park packed.
Good local pub/restaurant. Staff young and helpful, food well above average. Dog friendly which is always a bonus. Kids play area at the back and lots of outside seating. Recommend highly.

Tills go down and suddenly they can't serve food. Don't know whether I can finish my drink or leave it and go somewhere else. No staff member seems to have a clue about what to do. Had to go ask for an update and suggested they use pen and paper and guess what, that's what they're going to start doing. This was nearly an hour after we arrived. Not sure if it was laziness or stupidity (or both)!! When the food came (and it wasn't a long wait once they decided to write things down) it and the service were both really good. Just a pity they didn't deal with their situation sooner - they certainly lost a lot of business as we saw group after group leaving because of it. We were there again first thing the next morning for breakfast. Fortunately everything ran smoothly and again the food and service were both very good. lost a star because of the total lack of common sense when the tills went down.
Great for kids as has a decent soft play area, think they have a new chef as food quality has improved recently. Staff friendly and always helpful.
